RESOURCES
Books & Podcasts Which Were Pivotal in My Healing
A resource doesn’t have to be written by a professed Christian in order to be helpful. Below is a list of the most pivotal resources, alongside The Bible, that were key in my healing journey.
Boundaries: When to Say Yes, When to Say No to Take Control of Your Life, by Dr. John Townsend and Dr. Henry Cloud, is a foundational book for any healthy relationship and a bookshelf staple for those who grew up without boundaries. I’ve read it five times and learned more each time!
The Emotionally Healthy Woman by Geri & Peter Scazzero. Watch the accompanying videos to this book to hear their powerful story. This would likely resonate with you if you grew up in the church.
The Men Who Hate Women and the Women Who Love Them by Dr Susan Howard & Joann Torres. If you are, or were, in a narcissistic relationship, you need to read this one!
Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God by Henry & Richard Blackaby and Claude V. King provides fantastic instruction on how to walk more closely with God.
Walking in Victory: Why God’s Love Can Change Your Life Like Legalism Never Could by Dennis McCallum. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior but have not yet understood that you have already been forgiven, this book is a must! Once you enter this covenant, his substitution or atoning sacrifice has already been made, and his blood covers your sin. Once you repent and receive him as your personal savior and understand all that entails, you will be able to forgive yourself and live under the covering of his grace.
Deliverance and Spiritual Warfare Manual by John Eckhardt. This book is fire! I wish more Christians would learn that we have the power to overcome spiritual strongholds.
Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of the Woman’s Soul by John & Stasi Eldredge and Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret to a
Man’s Soul by John Eldredge. Both explore God’s plan for his magnificent creation and how sin destroys that.
Jesus in Me: Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant
Companion by Ann Graham Lotz. It was written by Billy Graham’s daughter and is an excellent introduction to the Holy Spirit.
Graham Cooke: Brilliant Perspectives Podcast. Graham challenges us to focus on our friendship with Jesus.
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. If you want to avoid the new-age precepts, just skip right to the chapter on the agreements. This book helped me recalibrate after years of living with lies and half-truths.
Dr. Ramani Durvasula: YouTube channel & podcast. A clinical psychologist and retired professor of psychology, Dr. Ramani is an expert in narcissistic personality disorder.
Seeking a Christian Counselor?
If you live in Illinois, I can point you to female, Christian counselors who accept insurance and offer either in-person or telehealth sessions.
I do not receive any compensation for referrals, nor do I accept solicitations to be a resource. My network has been developed over time with trusted, time-tested Christian women who are certified counselors.
I am the only person who will receive your information. Please do not complete this if you are in a situation where a reply to your email places you in a dangerous situation.
Counselors accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Cash, Check, Venmo, Debit, and Credit Card.
Daily Reading
I’ve put together a 12-week Bible reading plan to help you build a consistent daily habit in God’s Word. While it’s included with the Guided Bible Study, you don’t need to purchase the study to access this free resource — I’ll send it straight to your inbox.

“The best defense against false teaching, life’s challenges and secular culture is Biblical literacy. It’s all at our fingertips, all we have to do is open up God’s Word!”
